All About Derek

Derek is six foot tall and muscular. He is white, has short brown hair and blue eyes. He was an Adeluna City Guard for ten years before the insect invasion. Hearing about the struggle on the West coast, he couldn't wait around for the insects to reach his city. He signed on with a mercenary company and went straight to where he felt he could do some good.
Mounted Knights
Armed with a lance, sword and shield, and armor, these units are the most heavily armored units and can crush their enemies with ease. However, they are expensive to maintain.

Coral
Many tiny organisms form this multi-colored jewel of the sea. Once the home of many fish: the coral has been preserved for other uses.

A simple block of wood. Maybe it can be used for something?

A piece of silver ore. Not very useful now, but maybe it can be combined with other things?

A purple gemstone commonly used in jewelry and other projects.

Support
The cooks, healers, squires, camp followers, and the many others that are essential to supporting the army, and keep it on the march.

A hard packed ball of coal that can be used for crafting. Can also be used to burn for a fire.

Better armed and trained than spearmen, they often make up the backbones of armies.

Shadow Cloth
Cloth tainted by copious amounts of spectral energy, shadow cloth comes from banshees and other, higher wraiths. Few are the people that can acquire it, for the fabric must be extracted from the subject while it is still “alive,” and the process almost never occurs with a willing subject.

Crossbow
This simple, yet powerful weapon allows the wielder to shoot a bolt at an enemy. While crossbows take longer to reload than traditional bows, very little training is required to effectively use a crossbow.

Tent
A basic shelter, consisting of a large sheet of fabric of animal skin, placed over a frame. A tent provides basic protection from the elements while away from home.

A rare form of bark that forest nymphs shed in secret groves during the first days of Venti every year. The bark looks remarkably like skin, and has a strong, earthy scent capable of overwhelming more sensitive noses.

A large shell that can be turned into a horn to summon sea spirits.

A thick, woolen blanket, perfect for keeping a person warm.

Professional soldiers armed with a sword and shield, as well as armor, they generally fight on foot.

Found in oysters these beautiful little gems can make quite the beautiful bracelet or necklace.

A heart torn straight from a wyvern that has been kept beating from exposure to mana.

Nevermelting Icicle
A spike of ice that generates a constant fog and never melts even in intense heat.

Cloak
This heavy, woolen cloak offers its wearer warmth and protection from the elements. It also has a hood, which can be drawn up to make the wearer seem more mysterious.

A sharp metal point has been affixed to a wooden pole. This is a simple weapon, best for thrusting at an opponent.

Opal Petrified Wood
Thousands of years ago this stone was actually a tree. Fire opal can be found growing within from water filling the cracks while it was alive.

Chest armor made of cured leather.

Round Shield
A circular shield of good quality and strength. Typically paired with a one-handed weapon to give the user a balance of offense and defense.

Used to sharpen objects.

Strength
Increases the physical strength of the user for a short time.

Hunting Bow
A simple crafted bow for hunting tonight's dinner. Not overly suitable for combat.

Hunter's Instinct
Creates heightened senses needed to be a hunter. I.e. Smell, sight, etc.

Gloves
Meant to be worn on the hands, these gloves are sturdy and warm.

Dagger
A short, bladed weapon with a sharp point. Can be used to slash or pierce an enemy.

Common Tunic
A simple garment which might resemble a long shirt that stops somewhere between the wearer's hips and ankles. The sleeves may be long or short, depending on the local climate.

Common Trousers
Sometimes called pants, this garment is worn on the lower body, and covers the legs. These trousers are long and extend down to the ankles.

Buckler
This small, round shield is gripped with the fist. It is highly maneuverable, and a popular choice in melee combat.

Broadsword
A simple sword of steel construction. Serviceable, if not exceptional.

Boots
Simple, sturdy footwear, usually made of leather.

Bastard Sword
A sword with a grip long enough to allow for two-handed or one-handed use. This blade is used to cut into enemies.

A hardy pack, with two straps that allow it to be worn on one's back. It's ideal for carrying supplies while on the move.
