Personality: Dala is a ball of anger. She believes that the world is a against her due to past experiences and thus her viewpoint is her vs the world. Due to lack of parentage, she doesn't know how to control her emotions or what emotions she ought to be feeling. Dala bottles up things like sadness or fear since thugs and bullies teased her. Society taught her that those two emotions were weak and unacceptable. Anger is the emotion she lets out the most since its the only reaction to a bad situation that she was taught to have.
When she isn't angry, Dala can be a sly little thief and often acts in the best interest of herself. She is perfectly fine with stealing, lying, or cheating as long as the benefits outweigh the negatives. Despite this, she has a soft spot for other kids in her situation and anybody who is crying. Though she will never admit she has a soft spot. Dala is a confident girl who believes in herself and can be very idealistic when it comes to her heros. Dala also won't ever admit it, but when somebody needs rescue she will jump in and try to save them. She'll cover it up but in the end she generally cares about people. Especially if they are her friends.
Background: To put it simply, Dala's grandfather sold both her father and pregnant mother into slavery to save himself from a debt. Her father died in captivity due to a mining accident. Her mother was around until she was five. Both Dala and her mother had gotten deadly sick. Dala woke up but her mother died to the illness. All of her life she had been a slave until she was ten. The owner was a nobleman who believed that Dala was just a stupid little girl who couldn't do anything. However, in the middle of the night while everybody was sleeping, Dala had gotten into the nobleman's bedroom and stabbed him to death with a knife. He was asleep so it was a lot easier for the little girl.
Then she ran. She ran as fast as she could and hijacked many moving things until she got to Vilpamolan. While in captivity, Dala had heard that many nobles talking about how if anything went wrong, they would hide in Vilpamolan. So she went to Vilpamolan to hide from anybody who might come after her. From then on, she was surviving as a street rat and a thief. Dala was determined to change her life and become somebody different. So she changed her name to Dala Asher Nesca, after Dalanesca and her own mother. Then she began trying to learn how to read and write through stolen books and parchments.
